What is Genu Valgum?
Genu Valgum is an alignment pattern in which the knees move inward toward each other.
When standing with the knees touching or close together, the ankles may remain separated. This inward angulation at the knees gives the legs the appearance commonly described as knock knees.
In children, genu valgum can be a normal stage of lower-limb development. The alignment of a child’s legs naturally changes during the early years of growth. Many children develop a degree of genu valgum between early childhood and approximately school age, after which the leg alignment often gradually changes.
