What is Ankle Bone Spur?
An ankle bone spur is an abnormal bony projection that develops around a bone or joint. It is commonly referred to as an osteophyte. Bone spurs can develop around different parts of the ankle, including the front, back, or sides of the joint.
They often develop gradually as the body responds to repeated stress or changes within the joint. For example, long-term wear and tear, joint degeneration, previous ankle injuries, or repeated impact can contribute to the formation of extra bone around the ankle.
